Family Traditions at Christmastime

Happy Gaudate Sunday! We are still enjoying our Advent prayers and devotions, especially the Advent wreath and the Jesse Tree stories and ornaments. But it's really difficult not to jump into full Christmas mode during these last few weeks.

This weekend we took part in some of our fun holiday traditions.

It's become a family tradition for us to attend our local holiday character breakfast.

We enjoyed making some crafts while we waited for our turn for breakfast.

This year's characters performed a little show and then visited with all the guests.
Here's Ray catching his breakfast.

Mailing our letters to Santa
Adam climbed right up and made himself comfortable on Santa's lap.
Ray did not want to visit with Santa, but he did give Mrs. Claus a big hug.
After breakfast, we came home and put up our Christmas tree.

Today we made Daddy's famous sour cream cookies! Yum!

Ray and Adam Mario loved helping with the decorating!

Get ready Michigan family members... these are coming your way! ;)
And so we'll continue to prepare our hearts and home for Christmas. This week we are looking forward to more Jesse Tree stories, the Feast Days of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Saint Lucy, the beginning of our O Antiphon devotions, and some fun Christmas school activities.

Our family Advent prayer: "Come, Lord Jesus, we are waiting for you. Each day we try more and more to get our hearts ready. Thank you for coming to us again this Christmas. Amen."
