Little Saints' Club Lenten Gathering

We had the privilege of participating in our Little Saints' Club Lenten Gathering on Wednesday. (The Little Saints' Club is a subgroup of our Catholic homeschooling group. We gather the toddlers, preschoolers, and Kindergarteners for prayer, learning, and fun several times a year.) We had over 40 young children and their moms at this gathering.

The morning began with a craft. The children made this awesome Last Supper craft from Catholic Icing. We have already made this craft at home, but the boys enjoyed coloring and visiting with their friends.

Next, each child had the opportunity to pound a nail into a cross.

As you can see in the picture, this activity was a big hit (no pun intended).... especially with the boys! The dad who made the cross very wisely decided to start nail holes for the children. All they had to do was put a nail in a hole and pound. We had intended to give each child a turn to carry the cross along a path around the room, but we didn't get to that.

After snacks we made Stations of the Cross books. We used the same pictures and objects that we used for the Stations kits we made last year. This time we put it all into small photo albums. Now the objects are sealed in and the children can take the books to church. We've used our kits several times and I'm sure the book will be well-loved for many years to come as well.

We are very thankful for the moms who worked hard to make this gathering so special. It's great to have so many wonderful families on this journey together.
