Astronomy

We have just begun an Astronomy unit. We've been reading books about the sun, the moon, and the planets. Mary (my dad's wife) sent us some fun activity packets to work on as well.

For the past few days we've been learning the phases of the moon. We made these fun Oreo moons ---

And these "Moon Phase Viewers" ---

"The Man in the Moon" ;)

Adam tested his out last night.

This is what he saw -- The moon was "Waxing Gibbous" - almost full.

Today both of the boys are sick with fevers and body aches. :( We've been reading some books and taking it easy. Hopefully we'll be back to work tomorrow. I'll post some pictures of our further adventures in Astronomy.

  1. Fun, fun - the astronomy, not the sickness! You guys sound like us right now. Recovering from illness and studying the moon, our current astronomy topic. Our clock showed a full moon last night - we go between that and looking at our moon finder (depends if it's cloudy or not). Astronomy is SO much fun! Get better soon and I sure hope you and Jon do not get sick.

  2. We're doing astronomy too! We've done sun, mercury, venus and just finished earth! Starting the moon and will do oreos too! :) Fun stuff! Hope the boys are feeling better!

  3. Using oreos must be the most fun way to study astronomy. Great idea.
