Celebrating the Communion of Saints!

Happy Feast of All Saints!

All you Saints of God, pray for us.
May we be inspired and guided
by the stories of your holy lives.
May we be strengthened and encouraged
by your powerful intercession.
May we someday join you in heaven,
singing God's praises forever.
Amen.

We celebrated this great holy day by attending Mass and a party with some of our homeschool friends.

Ray dressed as Saint Nicholas. (Thanks Becky for the robe and stole!)
Adam dressed as Saint Michael the Archangel (as usual). (Thanks Mom for making the robe.)

We forgot Adam's vest and wings... but he was happy because he had a sword! We also forgot Ray's beard, but he enjoyed parading around in a very Bishop-like manner anyway. (That definitely bodes well for his future vocation, right!)

During the homily, the priest actually called the children to come forward and name the saints they were portraying.

Some FIERCE saints! (Nicholas, Matthew, Christopher, and Michael)

We had FOUR lovely Saint Kateri's!
She's a real superstar now!
This party was not planned on as big a scale as in past years, but we did pull out our box of games. The marching game and saint bingo are always big hits every year!

I truly thank God for the saints. I look to them for inspiration and intercession all the time. It's such a gift to have these great models and friends on this Christian jouney.

The boys and I spent time praying the Litany of the Saints this afternoon and coloring some saint pictures as well. It's awesome to observe their growing knowledge of and devotion to the saints as they learn and grow more each year.

May we all grow together in the path of holiness so that we may one day be counted among the holy saints of God in heaven.
